Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

The latest Health and Safety COSHH Regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) impose more stringent requirements on Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems and higher standards of testing and reporting. Our pricing structure is shown below.

Plant Service

This is an annual inspection to check all moving elements of the plant, filter condition, ductwork integrity, machine hood condition, slide damper operation, electrical loads, fluid levels where appropriate, seal and joint condition - taking corrective action as necessary. Refit all parts and re-seal with mastic, including materials and labour. Recommend remedial work if appropriate.

Plant Service with COSHH/LEV Report

It is a requirement of the COSHH Regulations for those responsible for any wood dust extraction equipment to make a written assessment of the risks to health associated with wood dust, together with any action needed to prevent or control those risks. Regulations state that those responsible must service the equipment and provide a LEV report at least every 14 months.

Our procedure is to take static and dynamic pressure readings on all branches of the ductwork system and interpret these readings to produce air speed and volume data which is later incorporated into a written report compliant with the COSHH Regulations.

Dust Test with WEL Report

Hardwood dust and softwood dust have been assigned maximum workplace exposure limits (WEL) of 5 mg/m3 (8-hour time-weighted average) under the COSHH Regulations. If required by your risk assessment we can undertake this test and if carried out at the same visit as the COSHH/LEV the prices would be as follows:

These prices apply to sites with a single LEV system and within 150 miles of our works. For sites with two or more distinct LEV systems, add £150 per additional LEV report or Dust Test. For more distant sites please ask us to provide a tailored quote. All prices exclude VAT.
